The 2026 competition is now open.

We are delighted to welcome novelist Claire Fuller as our judge this year. Claire is the author of six novels, including the Costa Prize-winning ‘Unsettled Ground” and her newly-published title “Hunger and Thirst”.

Frome Young Writer Competition 2026 is a competition in two age groups (7 -11 years and 12 -18 years) for writers living or attending school/college in the BA, SP or SN postcodes. Stories should be between 50 and 2000 words and reflect the theme ‘THE SPARK’. First prize is £80. Please email fromewriterscollective@gmail.com for more information.
