The 2026 competition is now open.

We are delighted to welcome novelist Claire Fuller as our judge this year. Claire is the author of five novels including the Costa Novel Prize-winning and Women’s Prize-shortlisted novel, Unsettled Ground. Her sixth novel, Hunger and Thirst, will be published in May 2026. She has taught creative writing for many years for various organisations including The Women’s Prize, Arvon, literary festivals and creative writing academies.

Young Writer Competition

Frome Writers’ Collective is running a competition for young writers in Frome and the surrounding area. There are two age categories, 7 – 11 and 12 -18 years, both with cash prizes. Writers must live or attend school/college in postcodes beginning BA, SP or SN. Entry is free and this year’s theme is ‘THE SPARK’.

Stories must be between 150 and 2000 words and the closing date is May 31st.
